Compilation of photos depicting elementary students acting in musicals

This summer, Minnetonka Theatre celebrates 15 years of elementary school musicals by revisiting its very first production, Disney’s 101 Dalmatians KIDS, a musical based on the classic animated film, 101 Dalmatians. This production brings together fourth and fifth graders from all six elementary schools in the Minnetonka School District. The special 15th anniversary production will also welcome back and celebrate alumni of the elementary musical theater program throughout the years.

“As we celebrate 15 years of introducing our young students district-wide to the magic of theater, it felt only fitting to bring back the show that started it all,” said Amy Jore, Associate Director of Minnetonka Theatre. “It has been incredible to watch the accomplishments of our elementary program alumni, both on and off the stage, as they carry forward the lessons they’ve gained in dedication, leadership, and self-confidence.”

“Directing young performers in Disney’s 101 Dalmatians KIDS has been such a joyful experience,” said France Roberts, Director of Disney’s 101 Dalmatians KIDS.  “These students bring incredible energy, imagination, and heart to every rehearsal. Watching them grow in confidence, teamwork, and creativity has been just as rewarding as seeing the show come to life on stage.”

About Minnetonka Schools Elementary Musical Program
Since 2011, the Minnetonka Schools Elementary Musical Program has partnered with all six elementary schools in the district to present an annual musical production. Each year, approximately 150 fourth and fifth graders perform in various casts of the same musical and share sets, costumes, props, lights and sound. The program’s objective is to give students with an interest in theater the opportunity to recognize and surpass their own expectations through a fully realized performance. The lessons learned in dedication, leadership and self-confidence will be used by participating students for a lifetime.
